Rien Schalkwijk

Rien Schalkwijk is an organist and composer from the Netherlands.

He operates a youtube channel under the same name with Hauptwerk and some real-life organ content. Rien has composed around 15 compositions, all for the organ.

Description

Rien describes himself as an "organist with a passion for forgotten and mostly unknown organ music"[1]. Some examples of lesser-known areas of repertoire performed by Rien are the Cantabiles by Enciro Pasini, and compositions by various composers such as Graham Twist and James Michael Stevens.

In addition to recording youtube videos, Rien has produced a few albums of organ music that have been released on streaming services[2].

Rien owns a Model 105 Mason & Hamlin reed organ from around 1880-1885[3] and produces Youtube videos with performances on this instrument.
